Hi, I’m Alyson.
I’m a Virginia-based freelance art director and designer with over twenty-five years of experience in publication design, visual identity, marketing, and advertising design.
As a multifaceted artist, my creative practice also includes illustration, painting, photography, and creative writing.
It’s all connected—color, pattern, design, art that inspires writing, writing that inspires art—so I celebrate the multidisciplinary approach as a way to encourage exploration, to nurture curiosity across disciplines, and to celebrate the interrelatedness of life.

Alyson Plante is a visual artist, freelance art director, and writer who lives and works in Virginia, USA.
She attended art programs at Virginia Tech and University of North Carolina at Greensboro where her visual arts background ulltimately lead her to the path of design and art direction. Alyson holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Design), cum laude, from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
With over twenty-five years of experience in publication design, visual identity, marketing, and advertising design, Alyson provides creative design solutions and production services to publishers, small businesses, and nonprofit organizations.
As a multidisciplinary artist, her creative work encompasses illustration, painting, photography, and writing. Her paintings and photography have been shown regionally and have been commissioned for commercial and private projects. Her writing has appeared in several online literary journals. When she’s not making stuff, Alyson can be found hanging out with her family, tinkering in the garden, or curled up with a good book.
